I know that these maps are very popular among noobs, but still you have to follow today's standards, a good mapper manages to map a purple panic with today's standards

3 was 6 years ago rls then the standards were probably even lower, 4 was 3 years ago rls and is in my opinion among the standards.

Purple Panic is a very successful map series. I don't believe that all new released should cater to the modern and progressive style that DDNet desires. However, of course we don't want to be releasing old style maps all the time, but this is an exception in my opinion (and probably others too). This should be given a fair test and not be biased because new players can't play DDRacemaX. She has classed this map as moderate, like the last 2 maps.

The thing is ddmax is only considered bad because many noobs just build the same kind of maps and made them annoyingly thight or made parts just frustrating

I didnt test The map but i think maps like Purple panic and pale made The perfect parts to play fast and not frustrating

And thats why they were popular

decline imo, this map is basically ddmax stuff just like past purple panic maps. imo these maps aren't super "popular" (maybe back in the day), but nowadays i don't really see servers with purple panic loaded.

if this gets release as is, it would set a precedent and would allow other people to post boring ddmax part maps with the arugment "purple panic 5 released". i also don't think we should release maps that don't fit standards just because they were popular in the past since its unfair to other mappers. ||dont hate on me oldschool nobos its just my opinion, im open to debate||

IDK about USA servers but there is always a server with people playing purple panic in Europe (even noobs play the map). Ama has left a good comment there. Plus the PP map series has so many different ways to pass a part and its great for speed runners as well as teaching new players fundamental hooking techniques. I have seen so many players struggle to pass basic hooking parts because they're only used to playing modern maps which don't have the classic styles of hooks (which is the base of all maps today). People should not try to sweep ddmax style under the carpet and act like DDNet is the only way.

classic hooks xD these standard drag parts can be mapped by anyone within a few minutes, i think you should think more about such parts

the whole start of this part can be skipped with 1 hook

there is many parts in every map like this , its for novice players ...

Honestly the parts of gameplay which aren't drags aren't too bad, just the 2013 drags ruin it, but because they make up more than half of the map I don't think it's reworkable. Also "purple panic is a popular series" and what not is not a valid argument to me, I look at maps as what they are and not what they are called. It's a decline imo.

So.. What I can say about it: The fact that there is such a big discussion shows that Purple Panic splits the community. There are people that love only new creative maps. New Parts, New Style, New Gameplay. And then there are those people that just like the "old" drag parts but of course with new ideas. Purple Panic has an "old" dragstyle but there are many new things in it that you can't find in the other PP's. Also I tried to make it a bit harder.

And a simple question: When it's everything that "old" and you have played it 100 other times on other drag parts cause it's always "the same", why u need a few tries to finish the parts while testing it? Why you can't make it first try when u have done that parts already thaaaat often? -> Cause it's always something new ! And: Nearly everytime when I join a server to play something, someone writes : Anqeeeeel, when comes PP5. I wasn't online for 3 years or something and still people want it to be continued. I made it for the Purple Panic Lovers

cause after all the years they still play purple panic and want a new one. Purple Panic 1 was made for DDmax and had tons of finishes. When DDNet released the map it was not "new". The people knew this map already from DDMax and STILL it got over 11K finishes again... That's all I can say. In the end you decide but yeah;

yes yes i had to do some parts multiple times, while not tryharding my first time is 47min.. i would understand if somebody said one or two parts are a bit linear and have no tweaks, but all of the other parts had new movements, at least for me.

For me it's better then previous ones

when I tested the map, I experienced quite a few parts that are unflowy or could cause players to get stuck. (like immediately first part) the signature drag parts are ok / good, as expected. But I think the connecting parts should be a lot more creative and create gameplay through more interaction and (literal) progression. by progression I mean just moving forward and experiencing the flow. right now the parts play slow, because they are tight and compact (example part tele 15) and create their difficulty through that.

Testers seem to agree that this map is not up to today's standards, and of course we can't make an exception just because it's Purple Panic.

i didn't play the whole map. a part was a bit tight (not enough space for bigger groups) and the first part (where u grab grenade) is annoying for t0 imo, so in that sense i agree with triki.

Well maybe I am going to rework some parts and reupload it.

i CAN map other styles ofc. I have different other maps and they are not like Purple Panic 😉 BUT Purple panic lives from this style... Would make no sense if I would change it completly to another style and just call it Purple Panic cause of purple stones....
